When you think of theme parks, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea likely come to mind first.

According to Oriental Land Co., Ltd., the operator, the number of visitors before the COVID-19 pandemic reached about 30 million.

Tokyo DisneySea attracts people not only from Japan but from all over the world seeking a dreamlike space. Its appeal isn't just in the attractions.

Following our

(how wheelchair users can enjoy Tokyo Disneyland beyond attractions), this time we introduce ways for wheelchair users to enjoy Tokyo DisneySea beyond the attractions.

1.1 How to Enjoy Dining at Tokyo DisneySea in a Wheelchair

While Tokyo Disneyland actually has more types of attractions, the charm of Tokyo DisneySea lies in its dining options.

With authentic cuisine and alcoholic beverages available since its opening, it offers an adult-friendly atmosphere. It's a recommended spot for those who want to enjoy a leisurely time.

Like Tokyo Disneyland, dining at Tokyo DisneySea is also barrier-free. For those who find it difficult to eat regular meals, there are restaurants that can chop or puree the food.

Such food processing is rarely available in typical restaurants. Tokyo DisneySea's initiative is friendly not only to people with disabilities but also to small children and the elderly.

However, Tokyo DisneySea often sees large crowds, and restaurants can have long lines. For wheelchair users and people with disabilities, long waits can be physically taxing.

If that's the case, please use the "Priority Seating" service. By making a reservation in advance, you can enter with minimal waiting time.

Reservations can be made both in-person and online.

The first restaurant to introduce is the "S.S. Columbia Dining Room".

The interior, designed to resemble a luxury liner, offers about 180 seats, allowing you to experience a shipboard party atmosphere.

In celebration of Tokyo Disney Resort's 40th anniversary, the special dinner course's main dish includes roast beef with truffle garnishes and seafood gratin, embodying the luxury liner theme.

With 10 types of wine available, why not savor the cuisine at your leisure?

The restaurants offer more than just Western cuisine.

At "Restaurant Sakura," you can enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine. The menu includes tempura sets, fish dishes, and pork fillet cutlet sets. The special set for Tokyo Disney Resort's 40th anniversary features chirashi sushi.

Japanese sake pairs well with Japanese food, doesn't it? In addition to beer and wine, sake and plum wine are also available, so enjoy a relaxing time with dishes that suit the Japanese palate in a Western-style setting.

The largest merchandise shop in Tokyo DisneySea is "Emporio".

If you're unsure where to buy souvenirs, this shop is recommended. It offers a wide range of popular items like plush toys and miscellaneous goods, making shopping enjoyable.

However, due to high demand, you may need to obtain a Standby Pass. The Standby Pass can be acquired through the Tokyo Disney Resort App, allowing you to shop in turn at the designated time.

Many people choose sweets as souvenirs.

For those individuals, the specialty shop "Valentina's Sweets" is recommended. DisneySea's sweets are not only delicious but also come in popular containers, making them a staple souvenir.

Be sure to get sweets that are only available here.

4-2. Sightseeing Routes and Mobility Options for Wheelchair Users in the Park

To reach Tokyo DisneySea, transfer from JR Maihama Station to the Disney Resort Line and get off at Tokyo DisneySea Station.

Although there are gaps and steps between the platform and the monorail on the Disney Resort Line, ramps are available by asking a nearby Cast Member.

For those driving, there is a dedicated parking area for people with disabilities or special needs called the "Disability Section".

You can use it by consulting at the toll booth, so please take advantage if needed.
