This article introduces stores with information about accessibility.

Do you know which stores offer Braille menus?

When you hear about accessible stores, you might think they mainly cater to wheelchair users, so you may not have paid much attention.

Here, we will introduce chain stores that offer Braille menus, based on Ayumi's independent research. If you know someone with visual impairments, please share this information with them.

Note that while some stores offer Braille menus at all locations, others may not. Please check with the store before visiting to confirm if they provide Braille menus.

1. Bikkuri Donkey

Bikkuri Donkey, with the motto "Steadily from what we can do," is engaged in social contribution activities. Besides supporting food education, they focus on normalization activities. They employ people with disabilities, accept guide and service dogs, offer sign language support, wheelchair access, and also provide Braille menus.

You can check if a store offers Braille menus on their store search page.

If you're interested in learning more about Bikkuri Donkey's social contribution activities, please visit here.

2. Miraizaka

Miraizaka is an izakaya chain offered by the Watami Group, which also operates Watami and Zawatami, and Watami Yakiniku. This Miraizaka chain is expanding mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Miraizaka offers Braille menus.

The Watami Group is actively addressing social issues and is conscious of accessibility in their store designs and measures. Miraizaka is working on providing Braille menus.

However, unfortunately, the availability of Braille menus is not mentioned on Miraizaka's website. It might be that not all locations offer them.

You can view Miraizaka's website here.

3. Denny's

Denny's is part of the Ito-Yokado Group, known as a pioneer in accessibility measures. Denny's has developed menus that can be used by both able-bodied and visually impaired individuals. Braille menus are available at all locations.

Denny's Braille menus are a bit different from others. They are laminated, addressing issues like wear and tear and cleanliness. The lamination makes them easy to clean, hygienic, and durable, ensuring the Braille dots remain intact.

There are few places that offer such considerate Braille menus.

Denny's believes that true accessibility is not about the provider's satisfaction but about the joy of the users. This initiative is being adopted by other major chains as well.

You can check Denny's website here.

4. Royal Host

The Braille menu at this restaurant features detailed descriptions of dishes that might be hard for visually impaired customers to imagine, including plate dishes like potato gratin cocotte, prosciutto, and salad, all served on one plate.

For visually impaired individuals, having detailed descriptions in Braille, like those on Royal Host's menu, is very appreciated.

You can visit Royal Host's website here.
